Walking Floor Driver

Walking Floor Driver (Class 1/2) with nights out – Pocklington

Are you a reliable, safety-first driver who takes pride in a job well done? If you’re looking for steady work, supportive training, and a role where your professionalism really matters, we’d love to hear from you. Ashcourt Group is currently seeking a Walking Floor Driver based in Pocklington.

You’ll be joining a team that values quality and consistency—because the standard of the product and the service starts with the people behind the wheel. This is a hands-on driving role that suits drivers who enjoy routine with responsibility, and who understand that safe, efficient delivery is the difference between “good” and “excellent”.

Why this role could be for you

  • Supportive working environment: You’re not just a number—there’s a genuine commitment to welcoming people and helping them succeed.
  • Training and development: We’ll equip you with the knowledge and confidence to perform your role to the standard we expect.
  • Quality-focused culture: We care about doing things properly, and we’ll back you with processes that help you deliver.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

As a Walking Floor Driver, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring our goods are transported safely, on time, and in line with all legal and company requirements. Your typical responsibilities may include:

  • Operating a walking floor vehicle efficiently and safely, following manufacturer guidance and site procedures.
  • Carrying out pre-trip checks and maintaining accurate vehicle and operational documentation.
  • Planning and completing deliveries/collections with a strong focus on timekeeping and route efficiency.
  • Ensuring loads are secured and dispatched correctly, meeting both legal requirements and customer expectations.
  • Providing professional communication with transport office teams, customers (where required), and colleagues.
  • Driving with consideration for other road users, pedestrians, and site traffic management rules.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and presentation in and around the vehicle.

What we’re looking for

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a careful approach to compliance and safety. Ideally, you will have:

  • A valid UK LGV driving licence relevant to the role (Class 1 or Class 2, depending on requirements).
  • A proven ability to drive safely and responsibly while meeting delivery schedules.
  • Good awareness of tachograph, driving hours, and legal compliance.
  • Experience with bulk or specialist deliveries is beneficial, and walking floor experience is an advantage.
  • Confidence with manual checks and written/recorded processes, including paperwork accuracy.
  • A professional, friendly approach—especially when interacting with site teams and colleagues.

Even if you’re not a perfect match, don’t let that put you off. If you’re committed to safe driving, have a strong attitude and want to build a long-term career, we’d still like to talk.

Safety, professionalism and pride in the details

This is a role for drivers who take responsibility seriously. You’ll understand that compliance is non-negotiable, and that the little things—accurate paperwork, careful load checks, clear communication—are what keep deliveries running smoothly.

We’re looking for someone who can stay calm under pressure, plan ahead, and deliver consistently, all while representing the company in a professional manner.
