Finance Apprentice

Finance Apprentice (Low Prudhoe) — Start Your Career with Confidence

Are you organised, curious, and keen to learn how finance helps keep a growing business running smoothly? If you’re ready to build practical skills, gain real workplace experience, and work alongside supportive people, this Finance Apprentice role at Ashcourt Group could be your next step.

We’re looking for an apprentice who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in doing things accurately, and is motivated to learn. This is a great opportunity to develop your accounting and finance foundations through structured training and day-to-day exposure across the finance function.

Why this apprenticeship?

Finance is at the heart of decision-making. From keeping records in order to supporting the month-end process, your work will help ensure the business has the information it needs to plan, improve, and deliver.

In this role, you’ll be trusted with meaningful tasks, while also being guided by experienced colleagues. You won’t just “watch and learn” — you’ll contribute, ask questions, and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills grow.

What you’ll be doing

Day to day, you can expect a mix of learning and hands-on work. Typical duties may include:

  • Supporting transactional finance by helping to process invoices, purchase orders, and other finance documentation
  • Working with purchase and sales records to ensure data is accurate and up to date
  • Assisting with reconciliations by checking balances and investigating discrepancies (with guidance)
  • Helping to prepare month-end information, contributing to routines and deadlines under supervision
  • Maintaining finance spreadsheets and updating systems with correct information
  • Learning core accounting processes such as document control, data quality checks, and basic reporting
  • Supporting the wider team with administrative tasks that keep the finance function running efficiently
  • Keeping an eye on detail — spotting errors early to maintain strong standards

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to be an expert in finance to be successful. What matters most is your attitude and willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine interest in numbers, accuracy, and how businesses work
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks
  • Good basic numeracy skills and confidence working with spreadsheets
  • A responsible, reliable approach to deadlines and follow-through
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to ask questions when needed
  • A proactive mindset — you’re keen to improve and take feedback on board

If you’ve previously worked in a customer-facing role, volunteered, completed coursework involving numeracy, or have any experience of handling data, we’d love to hear about it — it all counts.

Training and development

This is an apprenticeship built around learning in the real world. You’ll gain experience through structured training while developing key employability skills such as professionalism, time management, and confidence with finance-related systems.

As you progress, you’ll build a strong foundation for future opportunities within finance and related business functions. You’ll also benefit from working in a welcoming office environment where development is taken seriously and support is on hand.

Location: Low Prudhoe

This position is based in Low Prudhoe. If you’re local (or able to commute), you’ll join a team that values quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
